Staphylococcus hominis colony morphology on blood agar after 24 hours of incubation

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Staphylococcus hominis is a coagulase-negative staphylococcus species that is a part of the normal flora of human skin. When cultured on blood agar, Staphylococcus hominis typically exhibits small to medium-sized coloies round or slightly irregular in shape often white to cream or grayish in colour with smooth or slightly rough texture. It is usually non-hemolytic or exhibits gamma-hemolysis, which means there is no significant change in the appearance of the blood agar surrounding the colonies. The colonies may appear opaque.
