Karty 633-637 zawierają fragmenty innych redakcji oraz wiersz o Krakusie i Wandzie. Fragmenty wiersza na ten sam temat są na odwrocie k. 1-3. Tom I (karty 1-246): brak początku, według foliacji Józefa Ignacego Kraszewskiego zaczyna się od karty 30 (w wydaniu z roku 1876 - tom 1 strona 27). Brak kart według foliacji autora: 53, 271. Tom II (karty 247-394): brak początku, zaczyna się od karty 16, brak zakończenia. Tom III (karty 395-632): karty 523 i 524 zawierają ten sam tekst w dwóch redakcjach. W rękopisie powieść (zapisana na kartach luźnych) dzieli się na 3 tomy. Rękopis pozostawiono nieoprawnym, jest przechowywany w jednym pudle. Foliacja ręką autora, w każdym tomie osobna. W stosunku do wydań drukowanych tekst rękopisu wykazuje znaczne różnice, w niektórych częściach jest zupełnie inną redakcją, szczególnie w t. I i II.
