Summary[edit]

Description Maryland Army National Guard Soldiers from the 253rd Engineer Company (Sapper) were joined by engineers and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) experts from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina during their two-week annual training. Nearly 50 Citizen Soldiers from the La Plata, Md., based unit along with eight soldiers from Bosnia and Herzegovina flew to Camp Santiago Joint Maneuver Training Center Puerto Rico July 13-27. The National Guard's 20-year-old State Partnership Program provides unique partnership capacity-building capabilities to combatant commanders and U.S. ambassadors. Its program has 65 partnerships involving 71 countries. Maryland’s partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina dates back to 2003.
