Description
Français : Les funérailles de Thibaud de Vassalieu, montrant l'archidiacre de l'église de Lyon et bienfaiteur du monastère, où il fut enterré, allongé sur un lit orné d'armoiries et recevant les derniers sacrements [1] en présence de deux Évêques qui encadrent Père Prieur, suivis de l' assemblée des fidèles (et de la procession funéraire des Pères, sur l' autre mur). Bien que posé à même le carrelage du sol, la taille du gisant montre l'importance du personnage. Deux frères se chargent des rites mortuaires: toilette et fleurs. Au-dessus de anges à la tête nimbée conduisent Thibaud vers le ciel. Fresque, première moitié du XIVe s., Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez, France.
