| Description | I've been on a roll with the birds these last two weeks. The original plan this weekend was to see the Barrier Lookout atop the Prairie View Trail, stay over in Canmore and then perhaps a light hike like Tunnel Mountain for a relaxing Sunday. Saturday worked out quite well and then the next morning, one of us had the bright idea to give the Saddleback Pass (3km hike from Lake Louise) a try. We had packed enough granola bars, bananas and beef jerky for the first hike, but had some left over and so decided a short hike shouldn't be a problem. Saddleback Pass was quite enough, especially after the Barrier Lookout the day before. While having lunch at the Saddleback Pass, this Steller's Jay came to check us out. Not long after, for whatever unexplicable reason we started our way up Fairview Mountain. Lots of pikas scurrying around, eeep! They were running up and down the rocks taunting our slow pace. That was quite the weekend! Don't think we'll be trying that again... haha |
