Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Conspicuous Chiton – (Stenoplax conspicua) - These nocturnal molluscs are the largest chitons found at Cabrillo National Monument. During the day, they hide on the underside of rocks - emerging at night to graze by scraping rocks for alga and marine plants with their radula. Their beautiful segmented shell plates are photosensitive and chitons exposed to light will retreat to the shade.
