Description
English: This architectural sculpture came to light during the archaeological excavations of 1963-1967 in the collegiate church of St. Gall. It is a transom made of sandstone with a reed leaf motif. It bears witness to the church that Abbot Gozbert had built over the grave of Gallus in the first half of the 9th century. The hole in the middle of the side testifies to the reuse of the stone. Holes were made in the side so that the tongs could hook into them to lift and move the stone.
