Description
English: A U.S. Army Stinson L-5 Sentinel takes off from the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Leyte (CV-32) off Vieques, Puerto Rico, in March 1950. Leyte took part in "Operation Portrex" (for Puerto Rican Exercise), the objective was to see how the combined forces of the U.S. Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force would do as "liberators" of an enemy captured territory (Vieques) against the "aggressors".
