Auf Grund seiner Lage ist Stützkow ein kleines Fischerdorf. Vermutlich wie auch in den anderen Orten der Uckermark erfolgte im 13. Jahrhundert die Besiedlung von Stützkow und der Bau einer Kirche. Im Dreißigjährigen Krieg (1618 - 1648) wurde auch Stützkow stark verwüstet und die Kirche zerstört. Erst nach Zunahme der Einwohner wurde 1748 eine Fachwerkkirche mit östlichem Dachturm errichtet. Diese erlitt im 2. Weltkrieg starke Schäden, welche mit Spendenmitteln der Bewohner 1948 behoben wurden. Nach Zunahme von Bauschäden an der Kirche wurde sie gesperrt und 1986 abgerissen.

Auf Initiative der Dorfgemeinschaft wurde am 31.01.00 ein Förderverein gegründet und mit dem Neubau vom "Haus am Strom" begonnen, welches im Aussehen an die alte Fachwerkkirche erinnert. Das 2001 fertiggestellte "Haus am Strom" wird als Gemeindehaus und als Kirche genutzt. Die Eingangstür stammt noch aus der alten Fachwerkkirche. Der Kronleuchter im Saal und die Glastür vom Vorraum in den Saal, waren einst im Palast der Republik in Berlin zu Hause.
