English: Neo-Baroque pulpit in the Cistercian Church of Saint Emeric in Budapest from 1938, probably designed by Gyula Wälder and sculpted by Ede Pilmayer. Elaborate carved and painted decoration with rocailles, roses, festoons, fleurettes, palmettes, volutes, cherubs holding scrolls, medaillons and tassels. Green and gold colour scheme. Iconography: the four Evangelists with their attributes, the baptism of Christ (relief panels), the Good Shepherd (door); dove, angel head, Archangel Gabriel holding a double cross, the trumpet is probably lost (abat-voix). |
