Summary

[edit]
Description

One of the great libraries of Scotland, I am in Glasgow to visit the library for an out of season: 'Aye Write' book festival event where Ayrshire's pre-eminent author Janice Galloway will be reading from and discussing her latest book - Jellyfish. This is a collection of short stories, which from which the author has been reading selections on BBC Radio 4 recently. Its not my favourite literary format but I have to salute Radio 4 for the consistency of its support for its practitioners.

The North Street building has a distinctive copper dome surmounted the bronze statue named "Literature" popularly known as Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom. The architectural style is Edwardian Baroque and the library opened to the public in 1906.
