Description
English: Torås Fort, a former coastal fortress on the island of Tjøme, Norway. The facility was established by the Norwegians in 1938, but the fortress and artillery was completed by German military forces as part of the Festung Norwegen during Nazi Germany's occupation of Norway in the Second World War 1940 – 1945. The fortress at Torås was closed down in 1999. The photois showing:
  • A WW2 memorial monument consisting of the bow of HNoMS Pol III, a patrol boat of the Royal Norwegian Navy and the first unit to engage the German forces during their invasion in April 1940, with flagpoles and an information board on the vessel and its captain Leif Welding-Olsen
  • The entrance into an old bunker tunnel housing the private Færder Military History Museum since 2018

Norsk bokmål: Fra Nedre leir på Torås fort på øya Tjøme i Ytre Oslofjord. Kystfortet ble etablert av Forsvaret i 1939, men ferdigstilt med fire kanoner av den tyske okkupasjonsmakta under andre verdenskrig. Etter krigen overtok Kystartilleret. Det var også kursvirksomhet på stedet. Anlegget ble nedlagt i 1999. Det er i dag et åpent krigsminne.

  • Minnesmerke over «Pol III» og Leif Welding Olsen, den første nordmannen som falt i kamp mot tyskerne under invasjonen av Norge natt til 9. april 1940. Monumentet består av baugen på «Pol III» montert på en gammel grunnmur, med flaggstenger, informasjonstavle og annet. «Pol III» var en hvalbåt innleid som bevoktningsfartøy i nøytralitetsvakt med Welding Olsen som kaptein. Seint 8. april 1940 oppdaget mannskapet krigsskip på vei inn Oslofjorden, og Welding Olsen fikk sendt varsel om det tyske angrepet før båten ble skutt i brann og han druknet.
  • Inngangen til bunkeranlegget (fjelltunnelen) der det private Færder Militærhistoriske Museum (Torås Museum) i 2018 åpnet en utstilling av gjenstander fra krigen og framover, særlig tilknyttet stedet og distriktet
  • «Tsjekkisk pinnsvin» (Panserhinder/stridsvognsperring)
  • Kupert kystterreng med svaberg og grønn vegetasjon i august
