Summary
[edit]DescriptionTTC new low-floor streetcar fare vending machine.jpg |
English: This is one of two fares and transfers vending machines which are located by the middle doors of the new TTC low-floor Flexity Outlook streetcars, they have either a large grey or red box which accept cash (coins only, no change provided) or tokens. From January 2016 until December 2018, These machines also used to take contactless credit/debit cards, but that functionality has since been removed because the machines were failing. Also note that the Presto Transfer tap/swipe reader has been removed from the machine as well since Presto card users no longer need paper transfers as they are now electronically stored on the card as proof-of-purchase, after the initial fare has been paid. Beside the larger red/grey fare and transfer machines is a smaller red ticket validator machine, which is used for legacy concession senior/youth/high-school student TTC tickets, since these are still prominent in the system, instead of dropping the concessionary ticket into the farebox, when entering a bus, legacy high-floor streetcar or the unpaid area of a subway station, on the TTC's new low-floor streetcars the concessionary ticket is stamped into one of the ticket validator boxes, which stamps the date and time on it which serves as proof-of-purchase. |
