Channel-Port aux Basques, Newfoundland. If I remember correctly, it was half past midnight when I disembarked from the Smallwood at Port aux Basques, and it would have been two and a half more hours in the car before I got to my hotel in Corner Brook - a drive I was not in any way prepared to make. I ended up sleeping in the car at a roadside rest stop, constantly choosing between closed windows and stuffiness on the one hand, and open windows and exposure to the bloodthirsty Newfoundland mosquito population on the other. It wasn't the ideal "welcome to Newfoundland and Labrador", but I soldiered on anyway. Channel-Port-aux-Basques, Terre-Neuve. Si je me le souviens bien, il était minuit et demi quand j'ai débarqué du Smallwood à Port-aux-Basques, et il aurait fallu deux heures et demie de plus en voiture avant ce que je serais arrivé à mon hôtel à Corner Brook - un voyage que je n'étais absolument pas prêt à faire. J'ai fini par dormir dans la voiture à une halte routière, choisissant constamment entre des fenêtres fermées et una manque d'air d'une part, et des fenêtres ouvertes et l'exposition à la population sanguinaire de moustiques terre-neuviens de l'autre. Il n'était pas le «bienvenue à Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador» ideal, mais j'ai persévéré quand même. Channel-Port aux Basques, Terranova. Si no lo recuerdo mal, era medianoche y media cuando desembarqué del Smallwood en Port aux Basques, y habría necesitado dos horas y medio más en coche antes que habría llegado a mi hotel en Corner Brook - un paseo que absolutamente no estaba preparado para hacer. Terminé durmiendo en el coche en un alto en la carretera, eligiendo constantemente entre ventanas cerradas y congestión por un lado, y ventanas abiertas y la exposición a la población sanguinaria de mosquitos terranovienses por el otro. No era la "bienvenido a Terranova y Labrador" ideal, pero seguí adelante no obstante. |
