Summary[edit]
DescriptionTaishan 2009 1354.jpg |
English: The God Of Mount Tai. Main Hall of Dai Miao temple.
Tai Shan is the place where Heaven and Earth meet. As such, both the mountain and its resident god have many different associations. It is the portal to the underworld, where the Lord of the Dead holds sway; at the same time, it is associated with renewal and the season of spring. In Daoism, death and life transform into each other, in an endless cycle of yin and yang that expresses agriculture, fertility, and the alternations of the seasons. The god holds a scepter; three connected golden circles at its tip symbolize the sun, moon, and earth. |
