Description
English: The famous Taleju temple i.e. Taleju Bhavani temple located in Patan Durbar Square in the historical town of Lalitpur district. This is a very artistic style temple, located on one side of the main courtyard of Patan Durbar. The 9-storey temple has a statue of Taleju Bhawani on the 5th floor after entering through a gold-plated door. This temple was built by King Siddhinar Singh Malla. The priests of this temple are Rajopadhyaya, Karmacharya and Raghubanshi. There is a tradition of making sword procession on the great festival of Bijaya Dashami and on the Fulpati day of Bijaya Dashami festival, it is customary to take this Taleju Bhavani to the nearby Dashain house for special worship and also offer sacrifices. To the south of this Taleju Bhavani temple is a large clock tower. Which was offered by King Bishnu Malla in 855 AD to please Tulja Bhavani. It was restored from Chandrashamsher after being damaged by a devastating earthquake in 1990.
