Description
English: Talking drum is an indigenous instrument in western region of Nigeria, west Africa. The instrument is widely used in the western state of Nigeria such as; Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun etc. Locally, the name of the instrument is called GANGAN, and this instrument is mostly used during celebrations such as coronations, weddings, naming ceremonies, burial ceremonies etc. Also its been used in churches too. In the olden days, the instrument is been used to call the attention of the chiefs in the palace that the king is coming on its way. This instrument doesn't only serve the purpose of been used in parties, its also been used to talk secretly and to make fun of people.
Português: Tambor falante é um instrumento indígena na região oeste da Nigéria, África Ocidental. O instrumento é amplamente utilizado no estado ocidental da Nigéria, como; Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, etc Localmente, o nome do instrumento é chamado GANGAN, e este instrumento é usado principalmente durante celebrações, como coroações, casamentos, cerimônias de nomeação, cerimônias de enterro etc. Além disso, tem sido usado em igrejas também. Nos tempos antigos, o instrumento era usado para chamar a atenção dos chefes no palácio que o rei está a caminho. Este instrumento não serve apenas para o propósito de ser usado em festas, também é usado para conversar secretamente e fazer troça de pessoas.
