Description
English: Schematic drawing of taste bud cell types.

Type I: Glia-like cells with irregular cytoplasmic processes, electron dense, long thin microvilli and dense core vesicles at apical surface.
Type II: Electron lucent receptor cells, several brush-like apical microvilli.
Type III: Moderately electron dense slender cells with single thick microvillus, form synapses with afferent nerve fibers and possess dense core and clear vesicles at presynapses.
Type IV: Precursor cells located basally in taste buds.

Type V: Perigemmal cells typically present in the periphery of taste buds.

Typ IV: Vorläuferzellen an der Basis von Geschmacksknospen.

Typ V: Perigemmalzellen, die typischerweise in der Peripherie von Geschmacksknospen auftreten.
