La imagen muestra al telescopio tomando "arcos", que son espectros de lámparas de calibración, en este caso de Neón y Cadmio, lo que da el color rojizo a la imagen. Estos espectros se usan para calibrar en longitud de onda los objetos observados durante la noche. English: Preparation before beginning observations with the Harlan J. Smith Telescope, at McDonald Observatory, Texas. The image shows the telescope taking "arcs", which are spectra of calibration lamps, in this case Neon and Cadmium, which gives the image its reddish color. These spectra are used to calibrate in wavelength of objects observed during the night. |
