English: Pencil drawing of a temple near Bangalore, by Thomas and William Daniell, dated 1 May 1792. Inscribed in back in ink: '150. Near Bangalore. May 1 1792'; in pencil: 'No.' '17.'

The Daniells are renowned for their authorship of 'Oriental Scenery', a collection of aquatints of views of India in six parts published between 1795 and 1810. This view shows the monuments on the hill called Harihararayana Gudda, to the east of the Gangadharesvara temple at Gavipur, in 'Oriental Scenery', V, 18, the temple to Harihara and the great stone umbrella, which are visible in the middle distance in this print. Both are viewed from different angles.
