Español: Enclavado en las faldas del cerro de la Tentación, la elevación mas alta del municipio de Zacualpan con 2710 msnm. Y que además en la misma cima atraviesa la línea divisora entre el Estado de México y Guerrero, convirtiendo a este punto en la mayor elevación entre las dos entidades.
La gran altura de esta montaña que recibe aires cálidos de la gran depresión del Balsas convierte a Mamatla en un lugar fresco y con abundante humedad lo que hace propicia la agricultura y el mantenimiento de huertas frutales. En este asentamiento como en la gran mayoría resalta su templo católico dedicado a Santiago Apóstol, construido en el siglo XVI de estilo barroco en su portada, destaca su bóveda de cañón y una cúpula que sobresale en el paisaje. Es en este templo en donde tiene lugar una de las festividades religiosas más importantes del municipio y la región; la fiesta en honor al Señor de Chalma que se lleva a cabo durante la semana de pascua y que reúne a una gran cantidad de fieles de toda la zona, entre los elementos a destacar de esta festividad es la tradición de que sea organizada por mayordomos, otro elemento característico lo son las danzas, principalmente Los Arrieros, Los Tecuanes y Las Pastoras. |
