Summary

[edit]
Description Each slab was post-tensioned partially during installation. This process was termed “temporary post-tensioning” and utilized bars at two of the post-tensioning ducts instead of tendons. This process also used minimal post-tensioning forces and served to improve the alignment of each slab as it was installed. The FHWA, Highways for LIFE project with VDOT demonstrated the use of precast concrete pavement system (PCPS) technology and jointed precast pavement system-Super-Slab® to replace concrete slabs on a section of I-66 and a ramp lane leading to US-50 West during nighttime partial or full closures.
