Description
Deutsch: Das "Heilige Meer" ist ein Naturreservat in Hopsten, NRW, mit zwei größeren Seen, welche durch Erdsenkungen entstanden sind. Der größere See ist geschätzt über 1000 Jahre alt; der kleinere entstand durch eine Erdveränderung vor ca 110 Jahren; genannt "Erdfallsee". Damals sackte auf einer Fläche von mehren Hektar Heideland der Boden ein, z. T. in eine Tiefe von 30 Metern. Unterirdische Hohlräume waren für das Phänolmen wohl ursächlich. Im Reservat erstreckt sich eine große Heidefläche, von Schafen beweidet. Bei ausreichendem Niederschlag bildet sich in einer Senke der abgebildete kleine Teich, der in den Sommermonaten oft ausgetrocknet liegt.
