Description
English: This is a sketch by Danish merchant and author Ludvig Verner Helms ca. 1878 of his ship "Vestfold". It was published in his book "Pioneering in the Far East and Journeys to California in 1849 and to the White Sea in 1878" in 1882. Helms aquired the "Vestfold" in 1878 in Christiania, Norway (now Oslo) and used it in the summer of 1878 to investigate several abandoned copper and silver mines in the White Sea dating from the 1730s. The digital image was taken from a digitized copy of the book created by the Google Book Search program.
