| Description | The Great Wild Goose Pagoda (Da Yan Pagoda) in the Daci'en Temple complex, Xi'an (formerly Chang'an), Shaanxi, 22 April 2009. The Budhist temple is a complex of temples, pagodas and pavilions. It was built in 648-52 and rebuilt in 1466. The Pagoda was built in 652 and rebuilt and heigtened in 704. However, a severe earthquake in 1556 reduced its height to the present seven stories. It was subsequently renovated several times since. |
