English: The shrine was built by the villagers and the marble statue of sacred Heart of Jesus was brought from Italy by Padre Antonio Leandro da Rosa and was installed on 16th of December 1926, The first mass celebrated here on 27th December of the same year. It is said that each family was asked to contribute one stone each for the construction of the steps leading to the hillock and to the construction of the monument itself. The villagers contributed according to their ability and capacity. Womenfolk joined in to carry water, mud, stones, and other building material to the site. A bullock cart was used to transport the marble statue to the hilltop A bullock is said to have died of exhaustion. Many gave financial help. The villagers built the monument by laying stone upon stone, cemented by warmth and unity and bonded by the spirit of brotherhood and co-operation and enthused by love, duty, and devotion. |
