Got an opportunity to get shots of The Shakespeare on Lower Temple Street, while no one was drinking outside. It is a Mitchells & Butlers pub, and it is a Smoke-Free pub. The building dates back to 1911. Lower Temple Street On the west the Neo-Georgian Shakespeare pub by Arthur Edwards of 1911. The successor to the Pit Bar of the Theatre Royal, hence the name. Before the block was reconstructed in 1910-11, the theatre ran through to Lower Temple Street here. From Pevsner Architectural Guides: Birmingham by Andy Foster. |
