| Description |
English: The Sweet Spot, 4 North Erie Street at West Chautauqua Street, Mayville, New York, May 2021. It's now a cafe specializing in sandwiches, homemade soups, and fresh-baked desserts, but - as the sign above the door indicates - this building served as the county clerk's office upon its construction c. 1859. Visible above the entrance is a pedimented cast-iron lintel studded with ornate decorative moldings, a touch of Italianate styling on an otherwise architecturally undistinguished vernacular structure. The county government sold the building in 2011 to its current owners, though it apparently ceased to be used for its original purpose well before that date. |
