| Description |
English: The fortress of Sanwar, a town located in the north of Udaipur (Rajasthan). It belongs to Sisodiya clan of Mewar region and was built by the same in 16th Century. Many Mughal rulers tried to control the fortress as it was a belief that one who controls the fortress, controls the important region around it which was known for its prosperous trade. But the Sisodiya kings resisted the Mughals. Every year on Holi, a festival in India, town people celebrates the victory by portraying the war sequence between the Sisodiyas and Mughals which ends in defeat of Mughal King. The picture is of the same war sequence with the fortress in the background. |
