Summary[edit]

Description
English: Pahá Charhe means inviting guests in Nepal Bhasa. It is a festival that lasts for three days, and on the last day, the Dyah Lwākegu ceremony takes place in the center of the Asan bajar.

The ceremony involves the gathering of the palanquins of three Ajimā (goddesses) : Lumadhi Ajimā, Kanga Ajimā, and Tebāhā Ajimā. Prior to the ceremony, the palanquins are paraded through the alleys of Kathmandu, accompanied by traditional Newari musical bands. The participants in the ceremony wear red, blue, and yellow caps representing their respective neighborhoods, and the processions stop frequently to allow devotees to make offerings. When the palanquins reach Asan through various routes, the Dyah Lwākegu ceremony is held.

During the ceremony, participants exchange flaming torches as crowds of onlookers fill the market square. Rice flatbreads known as chatānmari are thrown to re-enacts the meeting of the three Ajimā mother goddesses sisterson the palanquins from the rooftops of houses around the square.
