Description
English: The gymnastic hall was built in the mid-1930s after many years of planning by Vardø Gymnastics. The building is modeled like the Gymnasium in Drammen, but the plans were simplified and the size reduced. The building is defined by the National Heritage Board to have a high conservation value and is a signal building that is very centrally located in Vardø city. The building has architectural qualities and is typical of the 1930s. Vardø is one of the few places in Finnmark that was not burned during the war and has a number of preserved buildings from before the war, but very few larger public buildings.
