Description
English: The epithet "strange attractor" is intended to take on two different meanings here.

The swan is certainly strange: her head is too big and her beak too pointed. Her plumage and general appearence is in disorder and her chaotic inner in distress. But it seems that the calamity is over. The swan looks calmly around, assessing the situation and leaving the viewer to ponder over what has happened.

The swan and the feather are a mathematical coincidence. Together, they form the strange attractor of a chaotic dynamical system of the de Jong type. To bring out all details, a hunded billion iterations were performed on a gigapixel matrix. How is that for a calamity?

The only post-processing is downscaling the image and manually coloring the beak and the feather.
