Summary[edit]

Description
English: The bronze sculptures that top the bridge's pylons were designed by Leo Lentelli. Each represents a team of horses pulling Neptune's chariot; armillaries on top of the chariots are each wrapped by a band with zodiac signs. Although Lentelli designed and mounted two pairs of sculptures, one at each end of the bridge, only one pair still has its natural patina of verdigris; workmen cleaning the bridge scrubbed the patina off the other pair and painted the sculptures a brownish color, to look like unweathered bronze. Preservationists stopped the work in time to save the verdigris on this pair.

This is an image of a place or building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the United States of America. Its reference number is 79002163.
