Three Mile Lagoon, Three Mile Pack Track, Ōkārito, West Coast, New Zealand

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Three Mile Lagoon is the terminus of the Three Mile Pack Track, just south of Ōkārito, West Coast, New Zealand. As you emerge from the the forest there's a great view of the Southern Alps, Three Mile Beach, and Blanchards Bluff, beyond which is Five Mile. Three Mile and Five Mile were busy gold-mining settlements in the 1860s, but little trace remains. After descending to the lagoon, you can return along the beach within an hour either side of low tide (it takes a little over an hour).
