Description
Français : Peinture de John Lavery, huile sur toile intitulée "The Spanish coast from Tangier, Trafalgar Bay in the distance (La côte espagnole depuis Tanger, Trafalgar Bay au loin), datée de 1920.
English: Painting by John Lavery, oil on convas titled "The Spanish coast from Tangier, Trafalgar Bay in the distance", dated 1920. This painting was painted during the painter's Moroccan period. Indeed, in 1891, the painter left for Morocco with a first stopover in Tangier, the opportunity for him to captivate the Moorish essence of Morocco through several paintings of anthropological value, as in this painting where Mansouria (Moroccan women's clothing) is painted. The Mansouria is characterized by wearing a Moroccan Caftan (here, green) underneath a Dfina, which is a transparent open dress.
