Description

Italiano: Torre medioevale, Anno del Signore 1229, il comune di Asti acquista il terreno su cui verrà edificata la torre. Dopo ottocento anni il simbolo del potere comunale in epoca medievale svetta sull'abitato di Masio a guardia del Tanaro. L'edificio fu costruito all'esterno delle mura con lo scopo di creare un polo urbanistico antagonista rispetto a quello esistente e in tal modo dare vita ad una Villanova sotto il dominio di Asti. Nel corso dei secoli servì come punto di avvistamento e di protezione alla navigazione sul Tanaro (sito piemondo.it)

English: Medieval tower, Year of the Lord 1229, the municipality of Asti buys the land on which the tower will be built. After eight hundred years, the symbol of municipal power in medieval times stands out over the town of Masio, guarding the Tanaro. The building was built outside the walls with the aim of creating an antagonistic urban pole with respect to the existing one and thus giving life to a Villanova under the dominion of Asti. Over the centuries it served as a sighting and protection point for navigation on the Tanaro (site piemondo.it)
