Summary

[edit]
Description

These old 4th generation Celicas are starting to get quite rare now. They were the first front wheel drive Celica (there was also a four wheel drive GT-Four/All-Trac in some markets) and introduced the wonderful 3S-GE engine. Car in the picture is a Celica 2.0 SX (ST162).

They were a revelation when they came out in Australia during the mid 80s switch to unleaded fuel. While all other cars seemed to be losing power on the new fuel, this engine increased power and responsiveness. The handling too was several steps above the wobbly old live axle, rear drive Celicas that had come before.
