Summary[edit]

Description This scan of an Edwardian photo postcard is of interest for its content. It shows Trent Bridge, Nottingham, England. Below the bridge there is a 19th century paddle steamer with old-fashioned, tall, narrow funnel, smoking away. In the foreground, tourists in Edwardian dress prepare for their "penny sick" outing on a steam boat. The river banks are not yet built up with stone and steps, and the passengers have to use gangways laid over the mud banks.
