Summary[edit]

Description

Trinity United Methodist Church in the Ouilmette North Historic District (1928). In 1874, the First Methodist Church was founded in Ouilmette. By the turn of the century, the congregation had grown to over 200 people. A round, brick building was built in 1909 to acommodate the church. The Broadway United Methodist Church in Chicago provided a grant for its construction. Membership continued to grow, and by 1927, the church had almost 800 members, with a school enrollment exceeding 500. Church leaders decided to build a new church in the English Gothic style. The church was barely able to pay its mortgage through the Great Depression.

Film fans may recognize this church as the one Macaulay Culkin fled to in the classic John Hughes film Home Alone.
