Description
Deutsch: Mauertal bei Söhnstetten, Albuch (Schwäbische Alb). Karsterscheinungen: Trockental und albtypische Wacholderheide.

Während pleistozäner Zeiten wurde der Untergrund auf der schwäbischen Alb mehrfach durch Permafrost plombiert, so dass Trockentäler zeitweise wieder durch Oberflächenabfluss geprägt waren. Die erodierenden Wasser tieften dabei die Trockentalböden weiter ein. Nach dem Auftauen des Untergrundes fielen die Täler wieder trocken.

Bei extremem Hochwasser können Trockentäler auch heute an der Oberfläche viel Wasser führen. In mehreren trockenen Seitentälern des Stubentals, wurden Gefährdungen durch große Erdstaudämme reduziert (Ugentalsperre, Wentalsperre, Mauertalsperre, Mauertal).

English: Mauertal, a dry valley and a tributary oft he dry valley “Stubental”. This Stubental touches the Steinheim crater on the south. The slopes of the Mauertal are a typical juniper heath.
