Nederlands: Amulet. Het snoer is ingesmeerd met witte klei, pemba/pimba doti. Aan de voorkant hangen een jaguartand met aan weerszijden uit hout gesneden klokvormige koperen belletjes.

De witte klei speelt een grote rol bij vele godsdienstige ceremoniën; men smeert zichzelf of amuletten in ter afwering van kwade krachten (Goslings, 1928:29).

De Prices maken melding van zulke obia's. Ze werden in de begintijd van het ontstaan van Marronsamenlevingen vooral gedragen voor rituele bescherming in de strijd. Rond 1980 werden soortgelijke items gemaakt ter bescherming tegen hekserij (wisi) en toverkracht. Ook ziekte wordt veelvuldig behandeld m.b.v. het dragen van obias die gemaakt zijn tijdens het genezingsritueel. Hoewel dus vervaardigd in rituele context, worden deze voorwerpen tevens gewaardeerd om hun esthetische kwaliteiten (1980:86).

Deze ketting wordt Luwa genoemd. De twee houten hangers worden als drinkbekers gebruikt. Het hout waarvan de hangers gemaakt zijn, wordt odun genoemd. De middelste hanger is de tand van een puma of jaguar. Het is de Kumanti (kromanti) god die deze ketting bezit. Als een medium van de Kumanti in trance raakt, dan draagt hij dit snoer. In de uitgeholde gedeeltes van de twee houten hangers wordt drank, meestal rum geschonken.. Halssnoer met magische beschermende krachten
English: Amulet. The cord is pasted with white clay (pemba- or pimba doti). On the fronts side hangs a jaguar-tooth with copper bells on either side. The white clay is important in many religious ceremonies; one smears oneself or amulets with it to ward off any evil spirits (Goslings, 1928:29).

The Prices report such obia. They were worn in the early days of Marron culture for ritual protection in battle. Around 1980 simular items were created as protection against witchcraft (wisi) and sorcery. Various vorms of illness were also treated by wearing obias made during the healing ritual. Even though created in a ritual context, these objects are also appreciated for their esthetic qualities (1980:86).

This type of necklace is called a Luwa. The two wooden pendants are also used as drinking-cups. The wood from which they're made is called odun. The middle pendant is the tooth of a jaguar or cougar. The necklace is believded to be posessed by god Kumanti or Kromanti. If a medium of Kumanti goes into trance, he will wear this amulet. In the hollowed out parts of the wooden pendants liquour (mosly rum) is poured.
