Summary[edit]

Description

This is one of the three tunnels in Cockatoo Island, all of which seem mostly pointless. The island is very small and is flat all around the edge so it seems a lot easier to have just gone around rather than through the middle. The tunnels were built by the early prisoners, and probably more as something to do rather than something useful. During World War 2 it was used as a bomb shelter. This particular tunnel is called "Dog leg tunnel", because it has a bend in it.
