Summary
[edit]DescriptionTwo of the Queen's cars (46917150124).jpg |
The one nearest the camera is a Rover P5B that was (and still is) owned by the British Queen. It has a 3.5 litre V8 engine and was fitted with a radio telephone - which was high-tech back in the 1970's when this car was built. The dark green is unique to some British Royal cars. Until recently she often drove some of her cars herself, and it's quite possible she drove this one. Now in her 90's she still occasionally drives, but only on private estates. Beyond the Rover is a unique 1974 dark maroon "Royal Ceremonial" Range Rover which allowed her and Prince Philip to stand or sit in the open back and be more easily seen on ceremonial occasions. These and many other unique or historic cars are kept at the British Motor Museum near Gaydon, Warwickshire. There are almost 300 cars in the collection. |
