Summary
[edit]DescriptionTwo ultrapure platinum crystals, each 1 cm big, together about 1 gram.jpg |
English: Platinum is a heavy, soft, silvery metal, which is extremely persistent against corrosion and tarnishing. Furthermore, it is very rare and expensive, which makes it a treasured jewellery metal. The industry has a high platinum demand, notably for catalysts the metal has outstanding properties. At a catalysis, the platinum isn't consumed and can be recycled. Platinum is good alloyable with other metals. Some substances, like hot aqua regia, can corrode it and produce platinum compounds, many of these are very toxic. |
