Summary[edit]

Description
English: A label made of bone that was found in the tomb U-j at Umm el-Qaab (Abydos) by Günter Dreyer (1998) from the Naqada III period (about 3200 BC). The upper representation is a stylized (hieroglyphic) form of one of the earliest types of ancient Egyptian shrines, the "per-wer". The per-wer was the shrine of the Upper Egyptian goddess Nekhbet. Its structure was made of wooden stakes and matting. The building probably represented the same animal as below. Its identification is unclear. It could be an Elephant, Rhinoceros or a "Seth animal".
