Ifølge NTB-reportasjer i Aftenposten 4. oktober 1940 holdt Nasjonal Samling to viktige møter i Oslo sentrum kvelden før (torsdag 3. oktober 1940): Det ene foregikk i Klingenberg kino der NS-fører Vidkun Quisling talte «for overfylt hus og et ytterst forventingsfullt publikum av alle befolkningslag» om at «våre tiltak er diktert av nasjonale hensyn» («Det er ikke noget diktatur vi vil. Det nye er at samfundet bygges op på samarbeid i næringsliv og yrke. Sammenfattet i et riksting og et kulturting»). Det andre, kongruente møtet foregikk i Saga kino der «konstituert statsråd NS-propagandachef» Gulbrand Lunde var hovedtaler og sa blant annet at «en nasjonal og sterk regjering uavhengig av partikrangel og klassekamp er det eneste som kan redde Norge».

Reporteren fra NTB beskriver kinolokalene slik: «(...) veggene i Saga var prydet med bevegelsens flagg. Da Hirden med fanene marsjerte inn til marsjtonene, tok det sig glimrende ut, innrammet som det var av rødgule asters og svakt grønne krysantemum, med Olavsflagget og solkorsørnen i bakgrunnen.».
