Description
English: Corporal Brady A. Gustafson, 21, an infantryman with 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, was meritoriously promoted to his current grade and awarded the Navy Cross during a ceremony Mar. 27 aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif. The tall, unassuming Marine was honored for his valor in combat during an ambush July 21, 2008, in Shewar, Afghanistan. After the Marines were ambushed - and he suffered a traumatic injury when a rocket-propelled grenade pierced his vehicle and mangled his right leg - Gustafson maintained focus, identified enemy firing positions, and accurately provided cover fire for his fellow Marines.
