USS Mercy (ID # 1305, later AH-4) "The hospital ship Mercy, with several hundred heroes aboard, arriving in port of New York after a rough and stormy voyage. The ship was several days late, having been forced by the weather to put into Bermuda until weather had calmed. Photo shows boys clamoring for the necessities as women of the Police Reserve brought packages of smokes and chocolates." (quoted from the original photo caption).
