Description
English: Battle of Midway, 4 June 1942: A wounded crew member from the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CV-5) is being high-lined transferred from the destroyer USS Benham (DD-397) to the heavy cruiser USS Portland (CA-33). A report of unidentified aircraft caused Benham to break away before transferring any of the 720 survivors to the cruiser and they remained on board her until the following morning.
