Summary

[edit]
Description The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31) off San Diego, California (USA), probably upon return from her last deployment. BHR had been deployed to the Western Pacific and Vietnam with Carrier Air Wing 5 (CVW-5) from 20 April to 12 November 1970. She was decommissioned 2 July 1971. Note that among the aircraft on her deck are two McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom and a North American RA-5C Vigilante, aircraft that were actually never deployed on any Essex-class carrier. The other aircraft wear the tail code of CVW-19 that was assigned to the BHR from 1958 to 1966.
